Ladies and Gentlemen, The Multiplex Xeno discussion;

So, heres what Multiplex say about their Xeno;

Quote

Looking for the best built flying wing on the market? Look no further than the Xeno. Most flying wings are built from cheap foam or flimsy balsa and film, but not the Xeno. It’s built from the ultra durable Elapor foam that has come to signify quality and durability in the foam airplane market. Utilizing the latest 3D CAD/CAM design techniques and our superior foam molding technology, the Xeno takes the flying wings to new heights with its unparalleled durability and performance. The unique design of the Xeno allows it to be switched from glider to electric in a matter of seconds and it even folds in half for easy storage convenience.

Features:
• Requires just a simple radio control system with delta mixing
• Removable / replaceable fins
• Folds in half for easy transport
• Good-natured flying characteristics, simple to fly stall-proof
• Broad speed range, a genuine fun-flyer!
• Optional electric power set: fitted in seconds.
• Optional transport bag with strap attachment (# 76 3317)

Some pictures of it directly from their website;

So, have you got one? Want one? Know somebody who wants one and has one? This is the place to show it off, slag it off, praise it or worship it!
You truly can say whatever the heck you feel about it here, show us yours, did you modify it? Smash it? Bash it or crash it? Show us...

Get it off your chest, and share... Hopefully, Multiplex will see this, and like all good German companies, listen to their customers!

Complete user manual / instructions for the Xeno

Hi all

ok, so last week I bought the Multiplex Xeno as I've had some practice with the FireFly and figured "This flying wing thing I can do" and so with it being rear wheel drive so to speak, with the folding propellor on the back of it, I though I'd have a stab at it.
So, rang the model shop in Leeds AGAIN and ordered it all on Friday, late afternoon and sure enough, Monday morning it arrives...

Got it with the Xeno tuning kit..

I have to say, build wise, its fiddly, and the hinges on the bottom make me wonder why those are not factory fitted for perfection as glueing them in with Zacki glue really means you have to work exceptionally fast in getting the hinges in place as zacki sets instantly almost. 1 thing to note with the Xeno so far is that all the parts on this flying wing are extremely tight fitting and would definately benefit from a little "give" such as the main fuselage compartment.

Mine is now fully built but I've discovered what seems to be a big problem with the "tuning kit" in that the propellor assembly will not bolt onto the carbon prop-shaft at all, the locking nut just wont grip the carbon rod, resulting in the bolt on the front of the proellor just spinning round and round and round endlessly.

I did call the model shop today and they said they have just received a load of metal prop shafts from multiplex today, and so are sending me one for mine, so hopefully this will resolve the problem, as thats the only thing now holding me back on finishing it and getting it flying.

Heres a few pic's of mine:

Thats the kit right out of the box...

I have since installed everything and spray painted it bright yellow on top and red underneath, but due to now awaiting a new prop shaft, I've put it all away, so I'll get it out again next week, probably monday and take some more pictures for you all.

Righty-oh boys and girls, so I've now got the Xeno fully built and have solved the major problem with the Xeno propellor falling off it.

I rang the model shop and told them that the split collet was simply spinning round on the prop shaft and wouldnt tighten up, so they sent me an upgraded hollow metal prop shaft.
Tried fitting that and again, same problem, the collet just would NOT tighten onto the shaft, so rang them up on Monday and was told to send them back the part that wasnt fitting and they would sort it out.

Well, I posted the entire prop fitting/collect and hex sleeve to them Monday and sure enough, Wednesday, it came back with a new hex sleeve over the split collet, only this time it was the full length of the split collet, and...... It fits, perfectly, and tightens up properly, so now I can finish getting it setup and go fly it.

Heres a picture with the new hex sleeve....

The old hex sleeve was almost half the length of this one, which couldnt grip the split in the collet at all.
Heres my Tuning kit already strengthened and ready to go:

I've painted the Xeno using Halfords spray cans and now just need to laquer it to protect the paint job and its ready to go...

Rich I've read your review and seen your vids, really useful thanks. My question is how to set up the radio to sort out the delta mixing.
I have a Futaba 10cg.

Hi folks,

I found that there is a risk that the wires could chafe against the running motor so I fitted a 1 mm GF plate that is held in place by the motor cover.
